Moving Through Spring - Movement Workshop

  • The Chapel, St Margaret's House 21 Old Ford Road London, England, E2 9PL United Kingdom (map)

Join Sophia in a contemplation and movement practice for Spring and the Wood element this May. The Wood element relates to creation, beginnings, plans, optimism, activity and expansion. Wood energy is creative, emerging from the darkness of winter and the water element, to burst forward with possibility and potential.

When in balance, wood qualities are rooted, firm and steady, from these steady roots, we experience growth as fertile ground to nurture our visions and dreams.

In this mindful movement workshop, we will cultivate deep roots and centredness in our physical form, making space for suppleness, creation and growth through body, mind and spirit. This class is suited to all bodies and all abilities.

About Sophia:

Sophia’s movement and meditation practice brings her into deeper relationship with her physical and emotional body - it has been her primary tool to cultivate self-compassion, bodily-awareness, and deep rest, over the last 6 years.

She is committed to holding an accessible and inclusive space to practice in - one where *all* bodies feel welcome, safe, and celebrated in. Her nourishing classes encourage students to tune in, and respond, to their internal worlds, and the ways their bodies may want to move.

Sophia’s non-dogmatic approach blends mindfulness-meditation, vinyasa flow and yin postures to create contemplative, holistic sequences.

Her practices are informed by natures rhythms and cycles, letting this guide the theme, intention, or energy. She believes that through moving in synchronicity with the natural world, we can better navigate the needs of our bodies.

Sophia is passionate about the power of community care. Softening the boundary between self-and-other and self-and-environment is at the core of her teaching.
