We welcome everyone and want our site to be accessible to as many people as possible.

St Margaret’s House is spread across 14 different buildings, albeit next door to one another. These range from a Georgian terrace, street-facing shops and offices in buildings from different decades. Each space’s accessibility is slightly different, please check below before your visit.

Venue Access

  • Dog friendly

    We welcome guide, hearing and other service dogs in our buildings. If you’re booking to attend a performance, please email us to let us know that you require an aisle seat.

  • Bookable Access Facilities

    We are happy to provide a free PA ticket for anyone with access requirements. If you require an PA ticket please call us on 020 8980 2092 (Option 2) and we’ll discuss your requirements.

  • Seating / Standing event

    Unless otherwise stated, all of our events/workshops are seated. Please email us in advance of your visit if you require seating so we can arrange this with you.

  • Baby changing facilities

    A baby changing table can be found in the toilets in the Gallery Cafe and the Mulberry Hall.

  • Customers with Medical Requirements

    If you need to bring food, drink or medication with you, we are happy to accommodate this. Please let us know in advance, so we can alert our team.

Closest Underground station: Bethnal Green (Central Line) is a 5 minutes walk away, but please note this station does not have step-free access.

Transport for London’s website states: “All our bus routes are served by low-floor vehicles, with a dedicated space for one wheelchair user & an access ramp. Buses can also be lowered to reduce the step-up from the pavement.”

Car

The nearest residential roads to us are Victoria Park Square and Approach Road, parking can sometimes be found here - but please check the parking signage before leaving your vehicle.

Taxi

If you are travelling to St. Margaret’s House via a taxi, we suggest you ask them to pull into Peel Grove, by St John's Primary School, Peel Grove, London E2 9LR.

This is the same side of Old Ford Road as SMH, and is approximately a 200m step-free distance to the front of SMH, past The Create Place, The Canvas, and Ayoka (charity shop). Depending on the venue your event is taking place in, e.g., the Hall, Chapel, or Gallery Café, this distance will increase but there is step-free access to all three of these venues.

Transport for London’s website states: “All taxis (black cabs) have a wheelchair ramp and some private hire vehicles (minicabs) have step free access.
