Sophie Lincoln
Sophie is a costume designer and maker who has worked in theatre, film and dance, in different roles, to create playful, narrative-driven costumes. She uses in-depth research to create experimental costumes or wearable art. Whilst undertaking her residency at SMH, Sophie hopes to re-immerse herself into her personal practice - looking for opportunities to make work for the simple joy of doing so. In a climate of socio-economic turmoil, the expectations put on artists to continuously make work for little payment can become increasingly overwhelming. Sophie is using her time here to make-up for some industry-based burn out, and re-kindle the passion and joy of creative costume-making!
