A poetry, film, and comparative studies workshop run by Barbican Young Poet Marianne Habeshaw and experimental filmmaker, performance artist, sculptor, and future doctor of soil and milk, Anju Marie.
What removed you from the natural order of things? What would you crawl on your knees through the desert for? Weaving chords of phenomena and the search for meaning through the construction of images, from Derek Jarman’s Blue to Pasolini’s Teorama, this workshop pairs poetry with film to analyse queerness, belonging, and hierarchy.
Participants will be invited to participate in a process-based making and research ritual, ranging from exercises in colour theory to free writing in response to film and poetry samples.
