Touching Palms with Grief: Conversations into The Unknown

  • St. Margaret's House 21 Old Ford Road London, England, E2 9PL United Kingdom (map)

Touching Palms with Grief is an exhibition and event programme exploring the complex ways we cope with loss. It invites us to reflect on how we can touch on such a difficult subject gently, opening ourselves to the potential for feeling and healing when it is much easier to turn and run the other way. The exhibition showcases artwork and writing from the recent Student Grief Zine and photography stills from the short film Floating on Blue. Throughout the programme, there are opportunities to come together, see the film, reflect, and celebrate.

Join us on April 27th, from 10am-12noon, for Conversations Into The Unknown, a morning of gentle reflection, exploring all things death and grief, and how these experiences can help us live life to the full. Expect a poetry reading, creative prompts and guided conversation. No experience needed, just an open mind.

The workshop will be hosted by Anna May and Rachel Clara Reed. Anna is an artist, writer and facilitator with experience in the mental health sector. She founded The Student Grief Network in 2018, and is the artist behind the exhibition. Her work seeks to interrogate the intimate, often challenging elements of being human, and to shift cultural understandings of wellbeing. Rachel is an artist, documentarian and death doula. Her work gravitates towards intimate stories about human resilience. She hosts death dinners from her home in Bow, London to support people in approaching difficult conversations around death, dying and grief, in order to think about what it is to be alive.
