Learn to crochet or develop your skills with Sarah Fizgerald, one of theartists featured in the Im/material exhibition at St Margaret's House.
Sarah Fitzgerald is an artist based in East London, specialising in Irish Crochet Lace. Her practice centres the political and gendered history of the art form and considers the potential of this craft as a means of storytelling and connection with anti-colonial organising. Sarah studied Fashion Design in Limerick, Ireland and has been working freelance for the last 3 years developing crochet, knit and hand finishing for brands like Paolina Russo. Her work has been seen on Vogue Runway and on runways in London, Copenhagen and Paris. Her designs and handwork is currently being sold across the world.
Over the course of the workshop, learn to crochet and create a piece of collaborative textile art that will be exhibited as part of the Im/material exhibition the following week, open from the 8th-10th November in the Chapel at St Margaret’s House. Wool and crochet hooks will be supplied but bringing your own wool is encouraged! Come for the full workshop or drop in anytime.
