Exploring Memory and Permanence Through Textile Art
Textiles are made to comfort, decorate, document and protect, and often provoke intense feelings of memory. The work in Im/material explores these provocations, and the different ways textiles can hold and inspire memories. What is recorded, remembered, and preserved is both personal and political. What is deemed important enough to display, and protect?
Im/material shows artwork using a range of textile materials that explore these themes of permanence and memory, the physical and the ephemeral.
