EVENT: Storytelling with SASS: Space & Home

  • St. Margaret's House 21 Old Ford Road London, England, E2 9PL United Kingdom (map)

Join us for an evening of storytelling with writer and researcher Manjot Dhaliwal. Together we will explore themes of finding home and taking up space inspired by feminist poetry from our community.

Celebrating the poetry and philosophy from poets such as Amrita Pritam, the event will include specially curated poetry readings, short discussions, free writing exercises and an open mic to share your stories. Come along with a story or object of home to share or listen and feel inspired by South Asian poetry.

All are welcome to attend, however SASS primarily designs spaces for South Asian women, to centre experiences that are often marginalised, and we ask that you kindly respect this if you don't identify as a South Asian woman.

South Asian Sisters Speak (SASS) creates spaces for South Asian women to connect, learn and share their experiences. Since 2016, they've been running regular workshops, panel events and more. They are also the home of the Brown Girls' Book Club - helping South Asian women find belonging and community so they feel empowered to be their whole selves.
