This exhibition of mixed media artwork is a visual exploration of an island and a city in two very different places by @women.ontheedge artists Virginia O'Dwyer and Rebecca Wilson.
Women on the edge is an artist group formed during the pandemic to support women’s mental health and creative expression. The group continues to work collaboratively, making and exhibiting artwork across East London.
This new work is made in response to different environments. Using photographs, canvas, found objects and mixed media the artists share the beauty of two contrasting locations; the remote Orkney Islands in Scotland and the vibrant city of Kathmandu in Nepal.
Venue: The Chapel at St Margaret's House, 21 Old Ford Road, E2 P9PL (Plan your visit)
Access: We are working to make our Grade II listed building more accessible but it will take some time. Please note that entry to the Chapel is not step-free. If you require access support (including our portable ramps), please get in touch via comms@stmargaretshouse.org.uk
Mini book-making family workshop: Using different methods of folding, cutting and sticking we will show participants different ways to simply create their own mini books. If weather permits, we can gather found items from the garden for example leaves and twigs and seed pods. We will provide paper, card, tissue paper and art materials to create small books with the theme of ‘tangles and traces’.
Please bring your own images and found materials to add to your book if you wish.
