BLUE CHROME – EXHIBITION – CYANOTYPE PHOTOGRAMS
BlueChrome is a playful declaration of love for the nostalgic world of old trips and family photos. An ode to the analog passion, a wacky mix of old and new.
Each piece features a cyanotype collage put together from pieces of old film negatives and slides. When you look at them from far away, they come together to tell a single story.
Marina is a self-taught artist based in East London. Her work delves into the captivating allure of urban environments.
Through the medium of cyanotype, she transforms her analogue photographs, featuring travel series, brutalist buildings, and industrial architecture, into captivating works of art.
After capturing her subjects on film, the negatives are then translated into acetate prints, which serve as the base for her creations. Utilising a variety of papers, including watercolour and handmade rug paper, she employs Japanese washi and sponge brushes to achieve diverse effects and textures. The final pieces come to life through exposure to sunlight or UV light, resulting in ethereal cyanotype compositions.
