EVENT: Paint it Green!

  • St. Margaret's House 21 Old Ford Road London, England, E2 9PL United Kingdom (map)

Join us to celebrate Global Recycling Day with Forest Recycling Project. Did you know recycled household paint is a thing? Come along to find out more, and join us for an afternoon of fun, creative activities for all the family - all using reclaimed paint! Thinking of a Spring spruce-up for your home? You’ll be able to browse and buy recycled paint as well!

We will be working on a community mural throughout the day. Come along and contribute to the mural using recycled mark makers and recycled paint. We invite you to take inspiration from the title, ‘PAINT IT GREEN’, be it trees, leaves, colour, recycling, grass, or, the photos by Joanne Segars which will be on display in The Chapel.

Reclaimed paint diverts perfectly reusable paint from going to landfill. It is both an environmentally friendly and cost-effective way to decorate and truly has the ability to transform your space. Of the 320 million litres of paint sold in the UK each year an estimated 50 million litres - enough to fill 20 Olympic-sized swimming pools - goes to waste...

Why recycle paint?

Environmental Benefit

Reclaiming paint stops perfectly good materials from reaching landfill and reduces the amount of Co2 emissions emitted, reduces pollution and conserves natural resources such as water by decreasing the demand to create new paint.

Community Benefit

Reclaiming paint enables local residents and community groups to improve their living and working space in a cost effective way, promoting a higher sense of wellbeing and richer engagement with the space. We are proud to be a member of the Community RePaint network who enables reclaiming paint nationwide.

Forest Recycling Project
At Forest Recycling Project works to promote a greener, more inclusive Waltham Forest. Our main operational area is reclaiming, repurposing and affordably reselling waste material that would otherwise fill and pollute local landfill sites. The three products we recycle are paint, scaffolding wood and fabrics. We believe that social and environmental challenges go hand in hand and volunteering is at the heart of all our activities.
