WORKSHOP: Repair Cafe

  • The Mulberry Hall, St. Margaret's House 21 Old Ford Road London, England, E2 9PL United Kingdom (map)

Join us at St Margaret's House for our Repair Cafe!

We'll help you mend and repair items including:

Clothes, hats and bags - our volunteers will guide you through mending skills such as how to sew on a missing or loose button, hemming tricks and tips for alterations, and how to repair small holes. If you need a specific colour of fabric or thread and you have that, please bring it with you. Please bring spare buttons and if you need a new zip, please buy that and bring it with you.

Small electrical appliances - our volunteer electrician will look at small household electrical appliances and either help you mend it, or recommend what can be done with it. If it needs a new plug, please bring one with you.

IT equipment - bring in any items that don't work as well as they used to, or any IT issues you're facing, and our volunteer will do their best to help resolve the issue or recommend solutions.

Please be aware that the volunteers give their time for free to help you mend and repair.
If we help you, a donation made to St Margaret’s House on the day would be very gratefully received.

If you would like to volunteer with us we would love your help. Please fill out this form and we will get in touch with you shortly.

Our Repair Cafe is part of a collaboration between St. Margaret’s House, Brombly by Bow, and The Royal Foundation of St. Katherine who will be hosting a series of monthly Repair Cafe across Tower Hamlets.

Upcoming Repair Cafes:
Saturday 27th July:
Bromley by Bow Centre (this session has been postponed until November)
Saturday 28th September: St Margaret's House
Saturday 26th October: Royal Foundation of St Katharine/The Yurt and Community Hub
Saturday 30th November: Bromley by Bow Centre

Please note: there are no Repair Cafes in May, August and December.

Though the Repair Cafe is free, we ask you to book a ticket to help us see how many people we will be expecting. We advise you to come closer to 10am for us to guarantee that we can get to you and your mending before we close the Repair Cafe at 1pm.
