The Creative Hub

Welcome to The Creative Hub! A fun design thinking workshop with a playful approach to foster creativity and inspire new ways of thinking. Come in for an afternoon where we create a space and time to play, dive deep into how our mind works, and create. In this workshop, we will be applying processes used in art and design to a simple guided flow to discover your creative style, practice seeing connections and patterns unique to you, and create from this space.

The way to creative expression is open: draw, write, design, make a song, express in the spoken word, build a story board…. the choice is yours. The workshop is taught by the multi-passionate creative and shoe designer Nida Gonul. With 8 years of experience working in as a designer for brands ranging from haute couture to children’s sneakers, Nida has formulated the Creative Hub workshop based on her experience as a designer, lessons from her personal journey transferring from a white-collar job to a career in design with zero previous arts training and her deep interest in psychology.

Nida has taught the Creative Hub with various organizations such as Mind, Earls Court Development Company, St. Andrews Youth Club and Ponders End Sisters Group and is excited to help you tap into your creativity at the Create Place with St. Margarets House. This workshop is for adults only. Paper, drawing templates and materials will be provided. Just come with an open mind and curiosity to discover your unique ways of seeing.

Nida Gönül: Trained at Cercal Spa, Italy and London College of Fashion, Nida has been working as a freelance designer for brands ranging from former British Couture house Ralph & Russo to cool children’s brand Ten Little in last 8 years. Fusing learnings from her professional experience, personal creative journey and interest in psychology, Nida has formulated a design thinking workshop (which she initially called the creative hub) to tap into the creative abilities, thinking patterns, and unique perspectives inherent to each one of us. With an easy-to-follow, fun format, and specially designed templates to quickly express ideas, the workshop draws on Nida’s journey of transitioning to a creative career without prior arts training. She personally experienced how being able to visually express an idea quickly motivates us to do more creative work. However, the many trials and tears of frustration shed when building the skill can discourage many to even try, so Nida has designed templates that allow participants an easier head-start in expressing their creativity. It proved to be a super helpful tool for overcoming the mental and practical barriers during workshops she has taught with several organizations including Mind Islington (Art Room, Isledon Road Centre, January-August 2023) and Mind BWW, Ponder’s End Sister Group for survivors of domestic violence, Earls Court Development Company Community Hub with adults and St. Andrew’s Youth Club with children aged 8-12 and the Municipality of Istanbul, Bulgur Palas Culture Center as part of the arts events.
