WORKSHOP: DecolonArt's Beyond the Margins: Speak Up!

  • St. Margaret's House 21 Old Ford Road London, England, E2 9PL United Kingdom (map)

This workshop will focus on the importance of language. Using mini journals, we will explore the power of language through poetry prompts and cutting up old text to create and express our own personal narratives. This workshop delves into the power of language. We will explore how language makes us who we are whether this is through relearning our mother tongue or learning the words of revolutionary thinkers from Baldwin to Davis. We will delve into how language can be a powerful tool of liberation but also one of oppression. This is your space to experiment, brainstorm, and create unique pieces that express your identity and history. No prior artistic experience is necessary – just bring your passion and your creative juices. Make art, fight injustice xx We particularly welcome participants from the global majority. This workshop is designed for participants aged 18+ Please note: Our workshops explore sensitive topics. While not a replacement for therapy, they provide a supportive and encouraging space to express feelings, learn, and heal together. We encourage participants to prioritise their well-being and take a moment if needed during the workshop. Follow us on Instagram for announcements on our next workshops and events @DecolonArt
