Mendoza Mania!

Mendoza Mania was a community focused project run by St. Margaret’s House in Bethnal Green, celebrating the life of Portuguese-Jewish bare-knuckle boxer, Daniel Mendoza (1764-1832).
The programme was funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Many different participating groups worked with the project leaders to uncover the history of Mendoza’s life.
This work came together to celebrate Mendoza’s life through a series of cultural events held in the autumn of 2022 and the spring and early summer of 2023.
